Bolt (Taxify) Allegedly Hacked, Users Lament Compromised Bank Accounts
Popular cab-hailing app, Bolt (formerly Taxify), may be facing a major hiccup with its services in Nigeria at the moment.
This is due to reports making the rounds that on social media that Bolt users are being debited multiple times for rides they took and paid for as far back as a week ago.
Some even lamented about being charged for non-existent trips multiple times.
The widely-accepted version of the story is that Bolt platform has been breached which led to the compromise of bank details of thousands of users.
However, Bolt denies any security breach on its platform.In a swift reaction, the company denied any report of a cyber-breach in a series of tweets.
Thestatement reads, “Bolt (Taxify) has not been hacked. Also, we do not store credit card data. Our payments provider is possibly experiencing issues which we are trying to clarify.
“Should you receive these debit alerts, please confirm against your bank statements to be sure actual sums were deducted.
“We also encourage everyone to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with relevant details so we can assist our payment partners arrive at a speedy resolution.”
